This project integrates image exploration with the concept of time to cultivate individual self-awareness. Through deconstruction, reassembly, and expansion of images, audiences gradually use self-awareness as an anchor to understand and shape their authentic selves. This self can be an idealized version or one with imperfections. Throughout this process, participants will learn to overcome cognitive limitations, deepen their understanding of their unique identity, and find their place in an ever-changing world.

Design Highlights:

First Layer: Transparency of Self-awareness
This layer uses acrylic to symbolize the clarity and ambiguity of self-awareness. Although self-awareness can sometimes feel fragmented or unclear, it is always present, awaiting discovery, understanding, and recognition. This is reflected in the semi-transparent nature of the material, where changes in ambient light directly affect the audience's perception of what lies behind it.

Second Layer: Cultural and Societal Influence
The second layer, made of handwoven fabric, represents the influence of culture and society on the formation of individual self-awareness. The double-layer fabric, woven from linen, fishing line, and acrylic, shows how external factors continuously shape and mold self-awareness as it develops.

Third Layer: Interplay of Light and Dark
The third layer symbolizes the process of action and reflection when contemplating the self through the interplay of light and darkness. Using sensors and light variations, this layer responds to the proximity and movement of the audience, illustrating the dynamic shifts in self-awareness as it evolves through continuous reflection and exploration.

These three layers are interconnected, influencing one another, and cannot exist independently. Together, they reflect my approach to cultivating self-awareness through design: deconstruction, reassembly, and expansion, ultimately guiding the audience toward a more resilient sense of self.

Material: Ramie, Polyester, Acrylic
